Specs at a Glance
Kia has one of the hottest SUV lineups on today's market. Many customers will be choosing between the compact Seltos and the midsize Sorento. While the Seltos seats up to five passengers, an available third row enables the Sorento to accommodate up to seven people. In this head-to-head comparison, we'll take a closer look at how these two models compare.
Performance
The 2024 Kia Seltos gives you two engines to pick from. Its standard four-cylinder engine develops a competitive 146 horsepower. Drivers who yearn for more muscle can step up to a turbocharged four-cylinder engine. Output increases to an exciting 195 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque. Kia's torque-vectoring AWD system is available as an option to transform the Seltos into a more capable adventure machine. When properly equipped, this SUV can tow up to 2,000 pounds.
The 2024 Kia Sorento's standard four-cylinder engine produces a satisfying 181 horsepower and 191 lb-ft of torque. However, an available turbocharged four-cylinder engine raises the performance meter by generating 281 horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque. Kia rates the Sorento with a higher maximum towing capacity of 3,500 pounds. Like the smaller Seltos, it can be equipped with a torque-vectoring AWD system.
Appearance
For the 2024 model year, the Seltos receives an eye-catching styling refresh. New headlights and an updated grille help give its front fascia a sharp look. For outdoor enthusiasts, Kia offers an adventurous-looking X-Line package. Several stunning exterior colors are available, including Neptune Blue and Mars Orange. You can further enhance styling by opting for a contrasting-color roof.
Kia has also updated the Sorento's exterior styling. It now looks even sleeker than before. Like the Seltos, the Sorento can be equipped with a rugged X-Line appearance package. However, remember that only the Sorento comes standard with LED headlights.
Features
Kia equips the Seltos with an impressive list of standard features. Highlights include an 8.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone integration, remote keyless entry, and Kia Drive Wise safety technologies. Higher trim levels give you additional upgrades, such as a Bose premium audio system and a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen with navigation.
More premium features are offered on the Sorento. Technology lovers will enjoy its newly available 12.3-inch touchscreen. Second-row captain's chairs and genuine leather upholstery are available as well.
