What's New for the 2018 Kia Forte?

The new Forte saw small changes, but some were overdue. Most of the revamping was to trim levels and packages. Kia discontinued the Premium package, and other packages were boosted to compensate. Cruise control is now standard across all trims. With Android Auto and Apple CarPlay added to the Popular package, road trips have become noticeably more fun. A power sunroof is now a part of the Technology package. Trim level changes include 16-inch alloy wheels at all levels, and rear cross-traffic alerts and blind-spot monitoring are now part of the EX trim.

2018 Kia Forte Trims and Interior Technology

In 2018, the Forte has three trims: LX, S and EX. Across the three trims are several features that improve drivability, entertainment, and comfort. Heated mirrors are standard across all trims. With trim upgrades, you can get your hands on the patented Smart Trunk, windshield wiper de-icers, and a 10-way power driver's seat. The entertainment and navigation are centered on a seven-inch touch screen and includes UVO voice command and navigation. Sirius XM radio is also available to play on the four-speaker system. Power locks and windows are just the beginning of automation that includes keyless entry, remote start, and an optional Smart Key system. Additional conveniences like heated and ventilated front seats, Integrated Memory System, and 60/40 folding rear seats are available in spades. The full range of features allows for heartening levels of customization in the experience for both drivers and passengers.

2018 Kia Forte Performance and Handling

2018 Kia Forte RearThe Forte engine has not been completely overhauled, but you'll find the 2.0 Liter DOHC I-4 still has plenty of pep in its step. The standard, high-efficiency engine produces 147 horsepower, and the zippier EX engine produces up to 164 horsepower. You can also choose between a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission. The automatic is rated by the EPA for better mileage, scoring a 29/37/32 city/highway/combined MPG score. With either transmission, you have the option of Drive Mode Select. It enables you to adjust power and torque ratios to make for the best possible driving and handling experience.

Forte Safety Features

2018 Kia Forte TiresOne of the biggest areas of upgrades for the 2018 Forte is safety. You've already read about the additions of cross-traffic alerts and blind-spot monitoring. Kia Forte includes other advanced safety features like forward collision warning, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, lane change assist, Hill Start Assist Control, and autonomous emergency braking. Combined, those safety features make this the most advanced Kia Forte yet. On the inside, a rear-camera display helps with safer driving, and the dual front airbags and seat-mounted airbags minimize threats in collisions.
