What's New for the 2019 Kia Niro?

The Kia Niro first debuted in 2018. This hybrid model hit the market fresh and ready to compete. Many people had never considered the power of an SUV combined with hybrid technology, but the Kia gives you everything you want.

For the 2019 year, there have only been minor tweaks and changes. The Niro's build is already so solid that there's little reason to overhaul it. There have been some color shifts. Rather than Crimson Red, you have the option for Runway Red. Other colors have disappeared so the lineup is simpler. If you get a Niro model equipped with a navigation system, you'll upgrade from the 4.0 system to a 5.0 system.

The biggest arguable change is the addition of a trim level. 2018 saw four trims, while 2019 has five. The S Touring trim has been added to the trims from previous years. This trim is the same vehicle you could previously get if you purchased the EX trim with the Graphite Edition package.

Which Features are Available for 2019?

There are 5 trim levels: Touring, S Touring, EX, LX, and FE. FE is the lowest trim, while Touring is the highest. The FE trim comes with automatic light control, privacy glass, heated rear glass, and projector beam headlights. You also get rear windshield wipers, a sound-absorbing front windshield, and solar controlling glass. It has a 6-speaker audio system, Bluetooth capabilities, a keyless entry system, and a rear camera display. You also get a 7-inch touch screen display. There's automatic windshield defogging as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.

The LX has the same features as the FE with the addition of roof rails and rear combination LED lamps. It also has a smart key that includes push-button starting capabilities. The EX has everything in the FE along with heated side mirrors, fog lights, LED daytime lights, LED turn signal indicators on the mirrors, power-folding mirrors, and smart welcoming technology. You also have a suite of safety technologies, along with rear vents and a rear USB power outlet.

The S Touring takes everything from the EX and adds black roof rails, along with a graphite radiator grill that has chrome trim. It has an 8-speaker audio system, an 8-inch touch screen display, and a voice commanded navigation system.

The Touring, the most luxurious of the trims, has the same features as the S Touring. However, the radiator grill is glossy black rather than graphite. There's also high-intensity discharge headlights. Rather than having roof rails, the vehicle comes with a power sunroof.

What is the Performance and Fuel Economy of the 2019 Kia Niro?
