Kia Vehicle Service Warning Indicators
Our cars sometimes warn us about issues that need attention via dashboard indicator lights. For your safety and your car's longevity, you should understand these ten common indicators found on the Kia dashboard.

Airbag Fault
Seek service if this light appears. It means that a fault exists within the system that includes your airbags and seat belts. Until serviced, your airbags may not properly deploy.

Low Fuel Level Warning Light
Your gas tank is low if you see this indicator. The corresponding level varies by model, so check your owner's manual. Get gas very soon.

Oil Pressure Warning Light
This indicator warns of low oil pressure. It also means that your car needs oil or immediate service. Most cars cannot start with insufficient oil pressure. Your vehicle may need its oil pump replaced.

Service Vehicle Soon
Think of this light as a reminder to change your oil and rotate your tires. For more info on your car's recommended maintenance schedule, refer to your owner's manual.

TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System)
Low air pressure is dangerous. Seek an air hose, check your tires and add the appropriate amount of air. A decal on your driver's door jamb gives your auto's recommended tire pressure. If you find sufficient pressure when this light glows, you need your TPMS sensors replaced.

Slip Indicator
Slippage activates your traction control, stability control, or both. Simultaneously, this light flashes. Book a service appointment if the light burns constantly. In that rare case, your traction components likely need replacement.

Charging System Warning Light
Commonly, this indicator features a battery symbol. It signifies a fault along the circuit that charges your battery. That circuit includes several components. This indicator's appearance often leads to alternator replacement.

Brake System
While you can drive a little with this light present on your dashboard, we recommend immediate service. Your braking pressure may be reduced until then. This light indicates a brake system fault.

Open Door Warning Light
This familiar light lets you know you have an open door. On some models, it can also indicate an open trunk. Always secure open doors before operating your car.

Coolant Level Warning
This light signifies a problem you should take very seriously. All engines create high heat, so they need coolant for temperature management. When you see this indicator, your coolant level is low, and you likely need to repair your car's coolant system. If you ignore this light and drive your vehicle, you will cause extreme heat and expensive engine harm.
