First introduced back in August at the Frankfurt Motor Show in Germany, the newly redesigned 2017 Kia Sportage has now made its North American debut at the L.A. Motor Show.

A fully from-the-ground-up refresh, the latest version of the compact crossover receives a much more round look than past incarnations, as well as a larger interior cabin and more premium materials. The new Sportage is also larger (1.6-inches longer with a 1.2-inch longer wheelbase). One of the biggest new additions is the Sportage’s high-strength steel frame that provides increased rigidity and better optimized weight in order to help with both safety and fuel economy.

The new 2017 Sportage will come in three trim levels: LX, EX and SX Turbo. The LX and EX will be powered by a 2.4-liter four-cylinder that produces 181 horsepower and 175 lb.-ft. of torque, while the SX Turbo will get a turbocharged 2.0-liter four that generates a very impressive 241 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. of torque. Both engines are paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and can be had with either a front– or all-wheel-drive system.

Look for the all-new 2017 Kia Sportage to arrive in Phoenix sometime next year. For now, take a look at our current selection of new 2016 Kia models.
