
Kia is once again teaming up with NBA All-Star Blake Griffin for their newest Optima campaign. Celebrating the all-new 2016 Kia Optima, the ads see Griffin employ his unique brand of deadpan comedy as drivers of the Optima find themselves lost in “the zone.”
As a leading player in the NBA, Griffin is constantly in “the zone” and thus shares his wisdom with Optima drivers who have yet to experience the fun and calm of such a place. The ads will showcase Griffin demonstrating his “zone” skills, which include reading a newspaper, forecasting the weather, and even making the best peanut butter and jelly sandwich, all while playing an awesome round of basketball, of course.
“Blake Griffin is a powerful force both on and off the court, and as a brand ambassador, he has helped raise Kia’s profile during our rapid transformation over the last few years,” said Tim Chaney, vice president of marketing communications, KMA.
This isn’t the first time that Kia has partnered with the basketball star. Over the years, Griffin has been in ads showing off the Optima’s Uvo voice-activated infotainment system and driving performance. Most recently, he appeared in several “big-budget action films” that all featured the Optima.
