Kia debuted an all-new SUV concept at the North American International Auto Show this January. Called the Telluride, this new concept is a seven-passenger, luxury SUV that features an aggressive and modern exterior aesthetic, as well as state-of-the-art power and tech.
“The Kia Telluride makes an aesthetic statement for the Kia brand as a bold, all-new luxury SUV with an abundance of advanced technology, focusing particular attention on the experience and comfort of second-row occupants,” said Tom Kearns, chief designer, Kia Design Center America (KDCA).

The SUV’s interior features black-leather captain’s chairs that are wonderfully interesting and innovative. All four chairs come with diamond-shaped openings that are embedded with Smart Sensors that relay each passenger’s health information to the car’s door-panel screens. Once the information is obtained, Kia’s Light Emitted Rejuvenation system will emit therapeutic light that should increase passenger mood and energy levels.

Under the hood, the Telluride gets a futuristic powertrain as well that includes finger-print activated pushbutton start, a 3.5-liter V6 engine and an electric motor. This powertrain generates 400 horsepower, which is routed through all four wheels and produces an estimated 30 mpg highway.
Currently, Kia has no plans to create a market-ready version of the Telluride, but considering the already outpouring of positive reviews for the car, we are sure to see its innovative design and technology show up in several new Kia cars in the coming years.
