Kia supports a lot of great causes in the United States, and they've just added another worthy cause to their legacy. On March 21st, Kia announced that it would be working with The Nature Conservancy. This organization works hard at freshwater conservation and other causes that help improve the environmental conditions in the world. This isn't the first time Kia has taken an interest in environmental and community causes, but it is the first time they've worked with The Nature Conservancy.
Kia to Invest in Freshwater Conservation
Kia and The Nature Conservancy will be partnering together to support projects that improve water infrastructure and reduce disaster risks. At The Nature Conservancy, Nicole Silk is the Global Director of Freshwater Outcomes. She says of the partnership, "Water is the lifeblood of the planet and rivers, lakes." She adds that "these systems are feeding communities, shaping cultures and sustaining the diversity of life on earth."
Kia America is just as passionate about the collaboration. Their vice president of marketing is Russell Wager, and he says of the upcoming investment, "Water is one of our most precious resources, and we have a responsibility to protect it for future generations."
How exactly will Kia contribute? While they're leaving the scientific and environmental component to The Nature Conservancy, Kia will donate $3 million to a very important goal: Supporting 1 million kilometers of rivers and 30 million hectares of wetlands and lakes by the year 2030. Kia doesn't just give money, though. They'll also be keeping up with the project and learning more about the causes they're contributing to, all while spreading the word about this important mission.
People who drive the Kia brand can be proud to know that the brand they trust is doing good and big things for the world. The official start date of Kia's latest initiative will begin on World Water Day, a fitting moment to begin working with The Nature Conservancy on important freshwater conservation issues. This isn't the first time Kia has pitched in on important environmental causes, and it won't be the last, but this latest collaboration will be one of the most important in the history of Kia's environmental efforts.
