What's New for the 2018 Kia Sedona?

Aside from a few new paint choice options, there have been no major updates to the 2018 Kia Sedona model from its 2017 edition. However, this isn't a bad thing at all! The Sedona is a crossover SUV known for its sleek look and comfy interior, and carrying over all of these things that make the model great was a smart choice that will benefit customers who have come to expect this quality level from the vehicle.

New Styles and Features

The Sedona returns this year with five trim levels: L, LX, EX, SX, and SX Limited. The base L trim is a great choice for consumers in search of a reliable vehicle that's also budget friendly. But that doesn't mean this trim is lacking in features. It comes standard with a touchscreen monitor, voice activated radio, steering wheel audio controls, and USB connectivity. At the LX level, you'll also find cooling options for the glove box, six-speaker audio, and remote keyless entry. With the EX trim, you'll find integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, second row LCD monitors, automatic temperature control, voice recorder, and an auto-opening trunk. The SX trim offers a built-in navigation system, an AC power outlet, memory seats, eight-speaker audio, and dual-zone front air conditioning. The top-of-the-line SX Limited trim pulls out all the stops in terms of features available. With it, you'll get distance pacing cruise control, automatic temperature control, heated steering wheel, three month satellite radio subscription, and an Infinity audio system.

Horsepower and Handling Performance

2018 Kia SedonaThe 2018 Sedona features a 3.3-liter V6 engine with six-speed transmission and 276 horsepower. Despite its SUV status, the Sedona's powerful engine makes reaching cruising speeds quick and easy. Considering the Sedona's specs, road noise when driving is kept to a minimum. In terms of fuel economy, the L, LX, EX, and SX all have a combined 20 mpg. At the SX level, that number increases to 21 mpg, and at the SX Limited level, the number drops to 19 mpg. However, for the average driver, these small differences in fuel economy shouldn't prove to be particularly significant.

Staying Safe on the Road

2018 Kia Sedona Blind-Spot DetectionThe Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave the 2018 Sedona "good" ratings across the board, which is the highest rank a vehicle can achieve. Similarly, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave the Sedona five stars in their overall, frontal crash, and side crash ratings. It received a four-star rating for rollover. All trim levels come standard with a backup camera. Features like forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and blind spot monitors are optional at most trim levels but come standard with the SX Limited.
