What's New for the 2022 Kia K5?

Kia debuted their four-door midsize sedan, the K5, in 2021 as an exciting update for its predecessor, the Kia Optima! The K5 provides a comfortable ride with improved performance and loads of high-tech features. It offers excellent value in the crowded field of midsize sedans.

There are a few key differences between the 2021 versions and the new 2022 K5s, with the latest models getting more standard features this time around. The top two trim levels get a 360-degree camera for better driver awareness. Wireless charging for portable devices is now available. A navigation system now comes standard for the EX and GT.

2022 Kia K5 Trims & Features

The new Kia K5 will be available in five different trim levels. The LX base model, LXS, GT-Line, EX, and GT all come equipped with front-wheel drive. All-wheel drive is available for the LXS and GT-Line trim levels. An optional Premium Package will add a sunroof, LED headlights, LED tail lights, and heating for the steering wheel. Other notable features include Adaptive Cruise Control, a navigation system, and Highway Driving Assist.

2022 Kia K5 Horsepower

The first four trim levels of the 2022 Kia K5 come equipped with Kia's reliable 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine. This little powerhouse cranks out an impressive 180 horsepower with 195 pound-feet of torque. The GT trim level, the top level of the bunch, gets a significant upgrade in power. The GT comes stock with a turbocharged 2.5-liter engine. This upgraded four-cylinder can produce 290 horsepower and a whopping 311 pound-feet of torque for some impressive acceleration.

2022 Kia K5 Safety

Kia takes great care to make sure all of their vehicles are safe. There are dual front airbags and dual side airbags upfront. There's an additional airbag in front for the driver's knees. The rear-seat occupants get dual-side airbags. There's also a set of full-length side-curtain bags.

The Traction Control System and Electronic Stability Control add a level of safety and stability. The K5 also gets Forward-Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane-Departure Warning, and a Tire-Pressure Monitoring System.
