What's New for the 2022 Kia Sportage?

For 2022, the Kia Sportage is hitting the scene with a new exterior, is available in all-wheel drive, and includes many standard driver-assist features. Also, the Kia Sportate welcomes a stylish new Nightfall Edition trim into the lineup. The base LX trim also offers a new Value Edition package, which adds some popular features.

2022 Sportage Trims & Features

Kia offers the new Sportage in four trims: LX, Nightfall Edition, EX, and SX Turbo. The entry-level LX trim is a perfect match for budget-minded car shoppers. It provides many desirable features, including an 8.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone integration. Upgrades, such as heated front seats and dual-zone automatic climate control, come with the LX trim's newly available Value Edition package.

New for 2022 is the Nightfall Edition trim. Exclusive 18-inch alloy wheels and blacked-out exterior treatments give it an eye-catching look. Kia also decks out the interior with a flat-bottom steering wheel and SynTex upholstery.

Another notch up the trim ladder is the Sportage EX. When loading cargo, you'll appreciate the hands-free Smart Power Liftgate. A leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob give the cabin a more luxurious feel.

Atop the lineup sits the exciting SX Turbo trim. Not only does this trim pack more power under the hood, but it also receives a sports-tuned suspension for more precise handling. Other upgrades include navigation, a Harman Kardon premium sound system, leather upholstery, and ventilated front seats.

2022 Kia Sportage Horsepower

The Sportage comes standard with a 2.4-liter, inline-four engine. It's rated to produce a competitive 181 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed automatic transmission sends power to the wheels. If you demand improved performance, step up to the Sportage SX Turbo's engine. Kia tunes it to crank out an exciting 240 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. Both powertrains offer an optional Dynamax AWD system.

Kia Sportage Safety

Excellent crash scores enabled the 2022 Kia Sportage to receive an NHTSA five-star overall safety rating. It also offers several Kia Drive Wise safety technologies. Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with Pedestrian Detection, Driver Attention Warning, and Lane Keeping Assist come standard. Blind-Spot Collision Warning and Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go are offered on the higher trim levels.
