If you’ve been wondering when you might be able to make like George Jetson and fly your car to work, you should find the below video very interesting.

The video is a design preview of a new prototype for a flying car. The car was designed by aerospace company, Terrafugia, who have been working on developing a flying car for years. The prototype is called TF-X and can be both flown in the air and driven across regular city streets. It's the perfect “hybrid car” that combines features of both a regular vehicle and an airplane, and can even be parked in a garage.

The video below is a great demonstration of how the TF-X will work. Basically, all an operator will have to do is drive the car to a designated launch pad then take off from there. Since the car will act more like a helicopter, it won’t need a runway, which means people will be able to take off and land in relative ease.

The entire TF-X project is still being worked on, so don’t start planning your outings to that great little restaurant three states over just yet. But it is exciting to see how this technology is continuing to progress every day.

We’ll keep you updated if we hear of any more news about the TF-X flying car, but for now watch the video below to see it in action!
