In addition to simply unveiling a new car for the 2025 model year, Kia has managed to produce a sedan that has also earned top safety ratings. The new 2025 Kia K4 has earned a Top Safety Pick (TSP) award from the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS).

While the Kia K4 earned an award for its safety technology in general, it received special recognition, particularly for its strong occupant protection safety aids. The Kia K4, which is the fourth generation of Kia's compact sedans, is armed with an abundance of safety technology that is collectively called Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). The Kia K4 is just the latest example of a vehicle built with safety in mind, which is a priority for the automaker.

IIHS Safety Test Rating Criteria

In order to receive a Top Safety Pick rating, vehicles must meet certain standards established by the IIHS. To qualify for a safety award, vehicles must earn "Good" ratings in multiple categories, including overlap front crash tests and side crash tests. They must also earn either an "Acceptable" or "Good" rating to avoid front crashes with pedestrians, and they must have headlights that the IIHS deems either "Good" or "Acceptable." The 2025 Kia K4 received an "Acceptable" headlight rating from the IIHS, along with top "Good" ratings for mild and moderate front overlap crashes, side-impact crash protection, and front pedestrian crash avoidance.

2025 Kia K4 Safety Features

In order to receive a top safety pick, the Kia K4 comes loaded with advanced safety technology. Its onboard safety aids include a backup camera so that drivers can avoid hitting people and objects in reverse, blind-spot monitoring to alert drivers of vehicles in their blind spot zones on the highway, lane departure warning, which helps keep the K4 in its proper lane on the highway, an anti-theft alarm system, a tire pressure warning system that warns the driver if a tire is overinflated or underinflated, vehicle stability control, and a collision system with pre-collision avoidance technology and a post-collision response safety system if a crash does occur.

Along with the standard safety aids that it offers, some models offer more safety technology, such as integrated navigation, a voice activation system, and highway driving assist, which adds advanced adaptive cruise control and lane-keep assist technology. The GT-Line Turbo trim also has upgraded headlights for better visibility and an enhanced external safety profile.
