The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) awarded the 2017 Kia Sorento in Phoenix with the prestigious Top Safety Pick+ award when equipped with optional autonomous emergency braking. In fact, this feature earned a rating of "superior," the highest available.

To qualify for the Top Safety Pick+ award, vehicles must also earn “good” ratings in each of the five crashworthiness categories. The Sorento’s high achievement across the board shows Kia’s dedication to keeping drivers as safe as possible on the road.

“These results are a clear indication that Kia places a high priority on safety by offering advanced crash avoidance technologies and enhancing vehicle structure through the use of advanced high-strength steel,” said Orth Hedrick, Vice President of Product Planning at Kia Motors America.

This isn’t the first time that the Sorento has earned recognition for its greatness. Back in June 2016, the CUV was recognized by Strategic Vision as being a high quality vehicle with exceptional tech features and design. With so many accolades, it’s no wonder the three-row utility vehicle is Kia's best-selling CUV.

The Sorento is available with the latest active safety features like the aforementioned autonomous emergency braking as well as advanced smart cruise control, blind spot detection, lane departure warning system, rear cross traffic alert and more.
